Ice fishing on Flathead is a different sport than the open-water season — but the lake trout are still here, and they still want to eat. We run heated wheelhouse shelters out onto safe ice, set tip-ups for the big fish, and jig the smaller rods for action. Glass-calm conditions, no boat motion, and (if you're lucky) the lake all to yourself.

Lake Trout are a large, slow-growing fish that thrives in cold, deep waters throughout North America. They are beautiful fish, with dark green or brown backs and silver or light gold bellies and orange lower fins. They can live up to 60 years and are commonly measured up to 20 inches and 7 pounds, but can be significantly larger.

Less than you'd think — we run a heated shelter, drill the holes for you, and provide all the gear. Dress in warm layers and you'll be comfortable.
When is the ice season?+
December through March, ice conditions permitting. Safety always comes first — we only go when the ice is right.

Great for kids — the heated shelter, short walks, and steady panfish/whitefish bite keep everyone happy.
